I was terrified of water as a child, YEt my parents pushed me to take swimming lessons at Downham Leisure Centre. Over time, I went from being fearful to becoming a club-level swimmer, eventually competing at regionals and national leagues. After an injury ended my competitive career, I completed my Level 2 swimming teaching qualification and started teaching at Bromley Swimming Club. Throughout my journey, I noticed how narrowly diverse swimming is. I faced challenges being one of the only black faces in the pool.

That's when the idea for Coalesce Swimming Club came to me – a CLUB TO INCREASE BLACK CHILDREN’S ACCESS TO SWIMMING, THROUGH EDUCATION AND RESOURCES; ADDRESSING NOT AVOIDING STEREOTYPES.

The goal is to create a space where they can feel seen, supported, and empowered in a sport where they are often underrepresented.

Our slogan, "Together we move as one," reflects the unity and strength we build as a community.
